La Maisonnée is the ideal location

There is so much to see and do that one stay will not be enough.
A few suggestions for some energetic or rather more gentle activities !

Around the gite :
Amble around the narrow winding streets of the village of Sazos to discover the architecture, the church and the water mills 
Head off from the gite to the Ferme des Cascades and visit the goat barn
Discover the circuit of the 3 villages (Sazos, Grust and Viscos)
In winter, take the shuttle to the ski resort of Luz Ardiden (ticket and ski pass on sale at the gite)

In the Valley, and specifically in Luz :

  • Municipal open-air pool, the Valley and National Park Centre with its cinema, library, internet access…Full range of services and shops
  • Thermes de Luz thermal spa, wellness centre with pool, jacuzzi, hammam, sauna, beautician
  • The Pont Napoléon with bungee jumping and Via Ferrata
  • Sports activities for everyone  (climbing, via ferrata, paragliding, canyoning, rafting, oak and ash forest park, nearby tennis courts, cross-country or alpine skiing at the Luz Ardiden or Tourmalet ski resorts, or further along, Gavarnie)

In the surrounding area :

  • Situated at the heart of the Gaves valley, the Gîte la Maisonnée is the ideal base for discovering a number of tourist sites such as the Troumouse or Gavarnie cirques with the Brèche de Roland and, for the more adventurous, Vignemale and the Ossoue glacier. It may even be possible to catch a glimpse of some marmots.
    The Pyrenees National Park and the Néouvielle Natural Reserve are renowned for their numerous lakes with crystal-clear waters, popular trout fishing spots. Aubert, Aumar, Madamette in the Néouvielle reserve, or the Ardiden lakes in the Sazos area...
  • Take a picnic and set off to discover marmots, izards and vultures in the summer pastures inhabited by herds of sheep and cows. 
  • Cycling enthusiasts can attempt the mythical Tourmalet, Aspin or Aubisque passes and discover the Pic du Midi in all seasons.
  • On the way back, why not stop off in Lourdes and discover the mystery of the Massabielle grotto, or its fortified castle, a treasure of Haut-Pyrenean heritage
